Our Story
I was a young adult looking for more community in the area. The kind that doesn’t end when Sunday service does.
Friends of mine up in North Dakota had just lived through a revival event, and what God did in them shifted something in me. I knew I needed to do something here.
The thinking kept expanding. Our community doesn’t just need more programs or more events. It needs more hands and feet. More people willing to serve, show up, and carry the love of Jesus into the places that need it most.
That’s how Upstate Jesus People started.
We bring people of all ages together, from every church, in every stage of life. We invest in young people so they can make disciples who make more disciples. And we serve our community to make Upstate South Carolina a better place for everyone by sharing the love of Jesus.
What We Believe
Jesus is the center. Worship is the means.
Unity over uniformity. We don't ask churches to agree on every doctrine — we ask them to worship together.
Action over performance. Service is part of worship.
Volunteers, not staff. The people own this.
Free to attend. Always.
Theology stays at home. Jesus comes to the field.
— 1 Corinthians 12:27
— Psalm 133:1
— Matthew 25:40
How We Got Here
The Idea
Looking for more community than Sunday service offered. Friends up in North Dakota had just walked through a revival, and what God did in them shifted something in me. The Upstate needed something of its own.
The Vision
More than gatherings. More than events. The body of Christ — every church, every age, every stage — under the open sky and out in the streets. Worship connected to service. Discipleship that multiplies.
The Launch
Summer 2026. Falls Park, Greenville. Free. Open. Volunteer-run. The first time many in the Upstate had worshipped shoulder to shoulder with believers from another church.
The Movement
Year One is foundation. Disciples made through worship. Young adults given room to lead. A community marked by service. The rest belongs to the Spirit.
The Four Pillars
Pillar 1
The Body
Every Church, One Christ
We bring people of all ages together, from every church, in every stage of life. Different congregations, same Jesus. Different gifts, same Spirit. The unity we have in him is worth showing the world.
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”1 Corinthians 12:27Learn more
Pillar 2
The Field
Open Sky, Open Door
We gather outdoors because the format is the message. No pews, no walls, no denomination posted on the door. Just open sky, open hearts, and an open invitation for anyone to come — free, always.

Hands and Feet
Worship in Action
Our community needs more than programs. It needs hands and feet — people willing to serve, show up, and carry the love of Jesus into the places that need it most. We serve so the Upstate becomes a better place for everyone.

Pillar 4
The Generation
Disciples Make Disciples
We invest in young people so they can make disciples who make more disciples. The whole body shows up together — kids, teens, parents, grandparents — but the next generation is given the keys, the mentorship, and the room to lead.

What’s Next
Year One proves the model.
Then we see.
The Passion Conference started with 250 college students. They weren’t planning an empire — they were being faithful. If four outdoor worship nights in an Upstate summer grow into something bigger, that’s God’s work. Our job is to be faithful with Year One.
Future branches may include UPSTATE JESUS PEOPLE Serve, UPSTATE JESUS PEOPLE Youth, a worship collective, and an annual indoor conference. But not yet. First: the field.
